Corry Area High School Band
For the third consecutive
year, members of the Corry Area HIgh School Concert Band
and the Jazz Band, under the direction of Brian Gresh,
will combine their talents at the first of thirteen
Thursday in the Park concerts sponsored by Corry Area
Arts Council. The program which begins at 7:00 PM and
ends at 8:30 PM will be held in the Gazebo at City
Park. In the event of inclement weather, the
performance will be moved to the Family LIfe Center
at the First United Methodist Church at 650 Worth
Street. Ladies of the Auxiliary will sell refreshments.
Dogs, skate boards, and bicycles are not allowed. The
Arts Council is able to present these summer concerts
because of a generous grant from the Corry Community
Foundation.

E: None of the Above will
perform on June 9, 2011 at the gazebo in City Park for
the second concert in the Corry Area Arts
Council's Thursday in the Park series. By popular
request they are returning for their second consecutive
year. The band consists of clockwise from front, Tyler
McClain, lead guitar and vocals, Tom Sawyer, drums and
vocals, George Spinks, bass, Phil Gluvna, lead vocals
and rhythm, and Lenny Bidwell, keyboard and vocals.
They describe themselves as a little bit country; a
little bit rock and roll. Program will begin at 7 pm and
end around 8:30 pm. Members of the Corry Area Arts
Council Auxiliary will sell refreshments. In the event
of inclement weather, the concert will be moved inside
the First Methodist Church at 650 Worth Street.

Cahal Dunne
Cahal Dunne, singer, musician, composer,
storyteller and comedian, originally from County Cork
Ireland but now residing in the Pittsburgh area, will
entertain beginning at 7 pm at the gazebo in City Park
as the third program in the Corry Area Arts Council's
Thursday in the Park concert series. During an 8 pm
intermission, the Miss Corry and Little Miss Corry
candidates will be presented. At the conclusion of
these introductions, Dunne will continue his show until
9 pm. Ladies of the Corry Area Arts Council Auxiliary
will sell refreshments including strawberry shortcake.
Please remember that pets and bikes are not allowed in
the park during this performance. In the event of
inclement weather, the activities will be moved to the
Family Life Center at the First United Methodist Church
at 650 Worth Street.

4 Jays
Doug Gaeckle, Harry Honard,
Dave Dennison, and Frank Silvaggio, the Four Jays, from
Erie will present their oldies and doo wop variety show
on June 23, 2011 as the 4th concert in the Corry Area
Arts Council's Thursday in the Park series held in the
gazebo at City Park. This year the programs are
beginning at 7:00 pm, a half hour earlier than in
previous years. The ladies of the Auxiliary will sell
their usual assortment of food items. In the event of
rain, the program will be moved indoors to the Family
Life Center at the First United Methodist Church at 650
Worth Street. Attendees are asked to please leave their
pets, bikes, and skateboards at home.

Ko Ko Mo Time Band
For the 5th Concert in the Corry Area Arts
Council's Thursday in the Park series, they will feature
KoKoMo Time Band from Chautauqua County, New York. The
group consists of Brian Bundy, lead guitar; Jake Rednock,
bass guitar; Jim Steffan, percussion; and Jeff McChesky,
keyboards. They perform an assortment of calypso,
oldies, Tex-Mex, Cajon Island, and other fun time
songs. The show begins at 7 pm in the City Park
Gazebo. Ladies of the Auxiliary will be selling a wide
assortment of food. In the event of inclement weather,
activities will be moved into the Family Life Center at
First United Methodist Church at 650 Worth Street.
Please leave your bikes, skate boards and pets at home.

New Direction Band
New Direction Band from
northwestern Pennsylvania will perform in their first
appearance at the Corry Area Arts Council's 6th concert
in the Thursday in the Park series on July 7, 2011 in
the Gazebo at City Park beginning at 7:00 PM. The
group, consisting of Bill Adiutori, vocals and drums;
Doug Hart, vocals, guitar and synthesizer; Mike
Bidwell, vocals and bass; Beth Ann, vocals and acoustic
guitar; Brian Loomis, vocals and rhythm guitar; and
Mitch Adelman, vocals and steel guitar, is noted for
their modern country and classic rock selections. Ladies
of the Auxiliary will sell refreshments during the
event. If inclement weather occurs, a move will be
made into the Family Life Center at the First United
Methodist Church at 650 Worth Street.

Happy Days
Happy Days, consisting of
Chuck and Ross Giuffre from Jamestown, New York will be
returning to City Park at 7 PM on July 14, 2011 for the
7th concert in the Corry Area Art's Council's Thursday
in the Park series. They specialize in music from the
50's and the 60's but also span the decades from the
40's to present day material. Last summer they were
again the group which drew the largest crowd. Ladies of
the Auxiliary will be selling their usual assortment of
treats. Attendees are requested to please refrain from
bringing pets, skateboards, and bikes.

Swing 35
For the 8th Thursday in the Park concert on
July 2lst, Corry Area Arts Council will present, in
their first appearance here, Swing 35 from Jamestown,
New York. The group plays a mix of jazz from the 30's,
40's and 50's. Show tunes, classic movie hits and other
standards are part of their repertoire. Bandleader Stan
Barton is on violin, Steve Davis on Piano and left
handed bass, Joe Glarner on guitar, and John Andre on
drums. The show begins at 7 pm and will conclude around
8:30 pm. Ladies of the Auxiliary will again have a
large assortment of refreshments for sale.

Shawn Wilder and the Wilder
Bunch
New recording artist Shawn Wilder,
originally from Westfield, New York and now living in
Nashville, Tennessee, will perform here in City Park
Gazebo beginning at 7 pm on Thursday July 28, 2011 as
concert number 9 in Corry Area Arts Council's series of
13 weekly events. In 2008 he was the first Findley Lake
Idol. The following year he was chosen Chautauqua Lake
Idol. Accompanied by the Wilder Bunch, they will
perform both classic and modern country plus some of
Shawn's original compositions.

Corry Summer Band
Week 10 of the 13 Thursday in the Park
concerts will feature the Corry Summer Band. This group
comprised of both youth and adults has been practicing
each Tuesday evening during the months of June and
July. They will perform in the Gazebo from 7 until 8:30
pm. For the third consecutive year, Anne Readshaw will
direct the musicians. She is carrying on the tradition
established back in the l960's by Ron Rairie. Members of
the Arts Council Auxiliary will again be selling a wide
assortment of refreshments.

Jim & Hick Chicks
The Jim Mcillwain family, a country-western
group from Sevierville, Tenn., will perform in City Park
on August 11th from 7 to 8:30 p.m. as the 11th event in
the Corry Area Arts Council's summer concert series.
The family consists of daughter Autumn, 16, wife Pam,
daughter Jennifer, 20, and Jim. Pam lived in Corry
until she was 11. Her family moved to Nashville, Tenn
when her father Bill "Jerry" Kerstetter became a
minister at the Church of the Nazarene. They appear
regularly at Dollywood. We are fortunate to have them
for the second year in a row while they are attending a
family reunion here. Refreshments will again be sold by
members of the Auxiliary. In the event of inclement
weather, the concert will be moved into the Family Life
Center of the First United Methodist Church at 650 Worth
Street.

Bob Uleck Polka Relations
For the 12th concert in the Thursday in the
Park series, Corry Area Arts Council is bringing back
Bob Uleck and Polka Relations and their happy music for
happy people. With Bob on accordian, Don on alto sax,
tenor sax, and clarinet, Michelle on clarinet, Tom on
trumpet, Doug on bass and Ken on drums, the audience
will be treated to a wide assortment of polkas, obereks,
and waltzes. The concert is scheduled for August 18,
2011 in the City Park Gazebo beginning at 7 pm. Arts
Council Auxiliary will sell refreshments.

Sammy Slicker & Blackjacks
Sammy Slicker and the Black Jacks will
perform at City Park Gazebo beginning at 7 pm on August
25, 2011; the l3th and final concert in the Corry Area
Arts Council's Thursday in the Park series. This
western New York group will play a variety of blues,
disco, big bands, classic rock, and country. By popular
request, they are returning for their third consecutive
year. Auxiliary members will have a wide assortment of
refreshments for sale. The members of the Arts Council
thanks all of you for supporting us and are especially
grateful to the Corry Community Foundation whose very
generous contribution made these concerts possible.

Corry Fest -
June 18, 2011 |

The float entered by the
Corry Arts Council remembered the Corry Columbus Roadway
Trolley which existed from 1906 through 1923. Signs on
the trolley read, "We're Off To the Fair", "Dance
To-night at Brokenstraw Park" and "Fare: 5 cents - Firemen
and Policemen Free". The unit was donated by Flagship
Trolleys of Erie. We were honored to have Peggy Seitz
Maxwell, the council's first historian from 40 years ago
and her current husband John depicting passengers as
well as longtime patrons Joan Hannan, Dr. Jerry and
Norma Lloyd, Phyllis Marchitelli, Jerry and Alice Rushin,
John Silvis, Carolyn Vanderschaaf, Joseph and Carolyn
Weber, and Ruth Williams. Before the parade, the
Council was presented with an Honorable Mention trophy
by the judges.

Bill Beggs & Dixie Doodlers
Corry Area Arts Council, Inc
presents Bill Beggs and the Dixie Doodlers at the
Gazebo in City Park from 12 noon until 2:00 pm on
Sunday, June 19, 2011. The band is comprised of Bill
Beggs, drums; Don Haener, trumpet; Pete Pepke, trombone;
John Kytic, keyboard; and Fred Lenz, saxophone and
clarinet. This will be the first entertainment that day
as Corry Fest celebrates Corry's 150th anniversary.

Corry Comunity Theater members,
Harold Fox, Ashley Harrington, Ron Lesh, Janell Linden, and
Brianna Steves, presented show stopping selections from
their seven summer musicals, Into the Woods, Guys and Dolls,
Singing in the Rain, Grease, Fiddler On The Roof, Bye Bye
Birdie, and Annie Get Your Gun.

Triumphant Corry Area
Arts Council, Inc presents Triumphant Swing Band, a 17 piece
local big band that plays the great melodies of the church
utilizing a variety of jazz stylings. They will perform in
the Gazebo at City Park from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM as well as
accompany the Corry Fest Singers during closing
ceremonies as Corry Fest celebrates Corry's 150th
anniversary. Their primary arranger is band member Roy
Mitchell.

Jim Moore, Elvis Appreciator
Elvis Appreciator, Jim Moore of Erie, will
be the opening act at Corry Area Arts Council's 40th Sunday in the Park to be
held in City Park Gazebo on August 7. 2011 beginning at 12 noon. He has
performed here during dinner theater on three previous occasions. This
will be his first out-of-doors appearance. In addition to the usual pop
hits by "The King", he will also include some of Elvis's inspirational and
gospel numbers. If inclement weather occurs, the event will be moved into
the Family Life Center at the First United Methodist Church at 650 Worth Street.

Sadecky Puppets
The second performers at the 40th Sunday in
the Park to be held in City Park Gazebo on Sunday August 7th will be the Sadecky
Puppets presenting their new 2011 - 2012 show, "Aesop's Fables". This show
which will include a treasured collection of favorite fables narrated by Aesop
himself. The Tortoise and the Hare, The Lion and the Mouse, The Fox and
the Grapes, and other stories will be cleverly woven together in this original
collection; each featuring the classic Aesop irony and morals. This
program will be performed by the puppeteers from l:30 to 2:30 pm. The
Corry Area Arts Council Auxiliary are responsible for bringing this show to our
community.

U. S. Air Force Systems Go
Headlining in the Gazebo that afternoon will be
SYSTEMS GO, a popular music combo from the United States Air Force Band of
Flight stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. A
multi-task group, they are the main recruiting element for the Air Force.
As part of their commitment to community relations, Systems Go performs at
fairs, festivals, amusement parks and a host of events during the summer
months.
Led by Technical Sergeant Toby Mc
Williams, the group has performed at the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame, Dollywood, and in Nashville.
At piano and keyboard is Master Sgt. Rebecca A.
Taylor. Guitarists are Airman 1st Class Rogan
M. Allen and Tech Sgt Toby Mc Williams. Bass
player is Staff Sgt James L. Smith. Staff Sgt John
Sayre is the drummer. Audio Engineer is Master Sgt
Jeffrey Sandra. Vocalists are Technical Sgt Terra G.
Mason and Senior Airman Kelly Perry. Together
they provide enjoyment for the entire family.
